Goalkeeper and American Tim Howard played for the USA National Team on Wednesday in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying against Trinidad & Tobago.

I watched the entire match (I live in the USA) and here's a few thoughts from his performance and also a link to some video highlights.

Howard generally has been a dependable and solid goalkeeper for the National Team and Wednesday's match was no different. He made some key saves even when his defense was shaky. Most noticably he made a few key saves off free kicks (one is shown in the video highlights). Overall, it was a good performance and Howard continues to grow as one of the best goalkeepers in the world (at least in my opinion). Anyway, hopefully his good form continues when he rejoins Everton.

I can't post a link to the highlights (I just joined the forum) but the highlights can be found at free soccer highlights . com if anyone wants to see them. It shows a few saves from Howard.

As is often the case when we play poorly, Howard was our lone bright spot.

I made a 3300 mile road trip to go to the game in SLC vs El Salvador last Saturday. Howard got a great reception from the fans all game long and played solid as usual.

Yeah, Howard has saved the USA in the last two matches as he made a big save in the El Salvador match late and the great diving save on the free kick on Wednesday. The defense for both matches has not been great.

I know he was with Man U earlier in his career but do you see any of the other big clubs (Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea) trying to sign him in the future or any other club from La Liga or Serie A? It doesn't seem like most clubs pay high transfers or much money for goalkeepers so I think he should be with the club for a while.

Welcome to the forum jfeyerherm (y),

I honestly feel we will be the biggest team Tim plays for now in his career. He's a quality shotstopper but he isn't the tallest and relies heavily on his defenders to deal with certain crosses and corners. Don't get me wrong I'm very happy we've got him but none of the Sky4 will be interested. In terms of playing abroad the Italian league is in a dodgy way but produces good keepers as does the Spanish league were home grown keepers seem to dominate.

So pineapple on pizza? Yay or ney?

It seems like Everton is a great fit for a club that should remain in the top half of the EPL table. Why do you call those clubs the Sky4? Is that in reference to Sky Sports? That they only focus on those clubs or don't give much time to any others? I live in the US so I don't get to watch Sky so I was just curious.

Huge Howard fan here.

However, the goal that El Salvador scored against us was of very low quality.

The blame could have been (and was to be honest) afixed to several players.

For me, Howard was out of position and had he been in the right position, would have stopped it. I think he'd even admit to it.

Other than that, he's been stellar for club and country.
