I think it needs to be recognised that Tim Cahill has been a magnificent servent to EFC. For years he's been the very epitomy of fight and spirit, wore his heart on his sleeve for the club and scored so many memorable goals. I don't think anyone will ever forget his legendary corner flag celebration.

I also happen to think that the way Moyes is allowing him to lose his dignity and make people forget the above is a disgrace. He's now at a stage when he should be used as an impact sub if we're in trouble. Last 15/20 minutes to rough them up a bit and give us something different.

Tim Cahill is an Everton legend. Don't let DM's narrow mindedness let you forget that.

Agreed. Was our best player along with Mikel for at least 5 years.

Contract runs until 2014 ... can he ever rediscover his old form?

The man has been superb, one of the best ever Prem buys and an Everton hero...

...but he's currently awful and shouldn't be playing in front of Osman or Barkley.

Neville Southall is an Everton legend. Doesn't mean he should still get a game.

Unfortunately, Cahill gives Everton nothing now. He's not even the nuisance factor he was.

Thanks for the memories Tim but it's time for both parties to move on.

I have the utmost respect for Tim Cahill.

Everton first though, always. Even Tim knows this, so I'm sure he acceptswebere there is pressure there always criticism.

Good OP mate.

Can I just say, 12 months ago he was slotting in plenty of goals, and no one had an issue with him. Sure even back then I don't think he should have been a shoe in for a starting spot. Somewhere in him, he still has enough to contribute, he just needs a break to get over any niggles and get his mind right. But even then his contribution should be limited to the final quarter of games. He is an absolute workhorse, and unlike other players who look disinterested when they're out of form, Cahill will constantly try his ass off.

I'll be the first to admit i've been very critical of his performances of late, but I will always have nothing but the utmost respect for him, and some of the comments that have been made around the internet are appalling. People are so quick to chuck a player under the bus when they're in an extended dip of form.

A year is more than an extended dip of form, mate.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that. It's just frustrating that many people seemingly forgot his contributions from previous seasons in their effort to be critical of him.

I wholeheartedly agree with Jimbo stating that Moyes is allowing him to lose his dignity. I'm not sure why Moyes thinks Cahill is the answer, but he has a stubborn over reliance on a player pushing towards the end of his career. If Moyes played Cahill right, coming off the bench in certain situations; this criticism of Cahill would not be here, or as harsh. Like i mentioned in a post in another thread, I respect Moyes greatly, but his decision making is ludicrous.
