I don't really like ferris either, it's a niche category when it comes to them films, particularly that era. No other film quite like it.

Tim.burton is a fantastic film maker. Beetle juice batman and Edward scissor hands are brilliant niche films.
The problem is he has gone way off the boil in recent years. He hasn't captured his early magic or at least ridden that up until this point to churn out films that all follow the same formula.

He has his style, but then so do many other directors. The majority of the Coen brother movies are remarkably similar.

Thought big fish was alright on first viewing. Not great but decent.
Seem to remember James and the Giant peach being good as a kid, but lets be honest Dahl is a genius, cant really go wrong with his stories.
Not really into creepy things so that basically rules out most of his films for me.

Didn't mind Big Fish but don't like him in general.
Don't fully agree with the above notion that because he is very successful director he can't be crap though. Apart from his costume, there isn't that much going for him stylistically (from a cinema point of view), but people enjoy the Gothic aesthetic so why break from that? It's an argument that can go on forever but in short can be put down to 'The idiots (audience) are winning'. Wouldn't say Burton is that bad, but i just don't agree with that point and i've gone on about it and went in a full circle.
Not fussed about many of Depp's films but he is a fantastic actor, he has done a fair few average films where he has completely stole the show (Blow).
