Used to live next to a fairly decent golf course and it was populated by Tory whoppers wearing stupid clothes who smoked Bensons or Hamlets. Always found it a sort of nouveau riche sport than a game played by the landed gentry. Lazy stereotype is upheld.Well it wasn't an entirely serious comment. Maybe it's a north/south thing, rugby isn't viewed as working class in London, all the posh schools in my area focussed on rugby and the ones in poorer areas on football. I've seen people say it's different the further north you go, I guess the same applies to golf.
I can see the appeal of playing golf on a nice day though, I just struggle watching it and find the pro golf scene to be a bit of a posh old boys club in the same way Wimbledon is. Way too many blazers on show
Pick axes Woods.
Anyone else think that he's tried to top himself?
thanks that was a great read!I hate golf, objectively terrible sport played by balding conservatives but this ESPN article on Woods is probably the best piece of sports journalism I’ve ever read

The Secret History of Tiger Woods
The death of his father set a battle raging inside the world's greatest golfer. How he waged that war -- through an obsession with the Navy SEALs -- is the tale of how Tiger lost his way.www.espn.com
