Do we honestly see EFC reducing ticket prices on the back of this?

My Derby ticket was £48 and I think that is a huge price to pay......in the early 00s your could go lower Gladwys for £27 and this is where we should go....

The freeze for ST next year is good news and in real terms they will gain as they are suggesting they will charge more for corporate....

I can't see any reductions comming myself....

We're selling out most games, not a chance they'll be dropping prices any time soon.

It depends if you believe in the 'Good Old Days'.Do you think the quality of the players and the 'football experience' has kept pace with the increase in prices ?
I suppose it depends on when you first started watching.

We are already cheap for a club with a big fanbase capable of selling out each week.

It's cup games where I believe we need to drop prices to fill the stadium.

I've got a pair of stubs from a Derby in 97-98 for the Park End, and they were £25 and £13 for adult and kid. £38 for a derby.

Cheapest Adult ticket is £39 now. £49 for a Park end derby ticket, only a 96% inflation.

I think in reality the club know that they can charge those prices knowing people will pay. I mean, to run a business, you aren't gonna say 'Enough people will pay £200 for this item, but everyone can afford £50', so unfortunately it means the typical fan can't go.

Shame really.

And fan is an abbreviation of fanatic

£3 into the Gwladys St in the 80s.

Fully expecting the price of Sky Sports to go through the roof to help pay for the 70-80% increase they have paid for the new rights deal.

And then fans may make the choice to stay at home because they can't afford both.

This can't go on forever.

I started watching around 96 and my memories of the game back then are far better, but that's probably more to do with my love of football as a kid than anything else. I think that's faded down the years. Football's still a huge part of my life but it's not the be all and end all any more.

I wouldn't buy a season ticket at those prices, simply because I couldn't be bothered hauling myself out of bed with a hangover for those half 1 kick offs against the likes of Stoke on a Sunday. Could never have imagined myself writing that 5 years ago.

Me neither mate, I think it'd need most, if not all, of the clubs to make a commitment to lower ticket prices and that's unlikely to happen.
In reality, freezing prices, or keeping the increase below inflation is the best we're going to see. If they do that for four or five years then ticket prices would effectively drop by ~10% which would be a big step in the right direction.

Likewise ; age makes you more cynical

It does. Then there's the fact I finished uni and entered the real world so my mum stopped subsidising the ticket. Always more difficult when spending your own money...

In general though I still can and will talk football all day long, but it's more of a hobby than the obsession it used to be. I just couldn't justify those prices for the few games a season I'd get a real kick out of going.

I think we get a good deal in comparison to most of our competitors in the league, i thnk my season ticket is £550 which I can spread over 10 monthly payments, I don't think £55 a month is a price that is beyond the working man to be honest.
