Three the Hard Way: The CONCACAF Thread

love that qualified "non-NA teams", conveniently excludes the US knocking out Mexico in 2002.

hooray for wind-ups.

If the USA had managed to beat a non north american team in the knock out stages of a world cup, they would have been on the list. They didn't so they weren't.

I'm sorry I went an entire paragraph without mentioning and praising your country, it won't happen again.

Can Costa Rica perhaps get a move to South America the way Australia went to Asia?

It seems unfair that they get so little challenge in their current confederation.

Don't worry, we'll revenge grind them into a pulp next summer at the Gold Cup.

That'll learn 'em.

(And nobody will be watching)

f it. done with wind-ups. may a ravenous Suarez corner the lot of you in a dark alley for some midnight noms.

I wish I could be allowed to be enthusiastic and excited about the successes of my country, costa rica, without being accused of being a wind up.

My support of them in the group stage was seen as an anti england wind up and my emphasis of their achievement in the concacaf thread is seen as an anti, canada? usa? what ever country obc is from, wind up now.

I have no idea why.

Honestly given that this is a concacaf world cup thread and costa rica are the only concacaf team still in the world cup I have to wonder why fans of other teams are even allowed in this thread any more.

if you are Costa Rican, good on you. i've been rooting for them since the start as well.

sorry, but with other blerts and wind-ups pissing in our wheaties for, oh, about as long as i've been on this forum, the day after a US loss, this comes across as it could be a wind-up attempt as the filter conveniently removes US successes. We advanced in '02 in the KO round, against a Mexico side that was good enough to qualify out of their group. (I have no idea who we've beaten in KO rounds before I started watching.)

as far as I'm concerned, ANY KO round win for a CONCACAF side is something to be proud of.

remember, we're a weak federation that any mediocre Euro side could sleepwalk through. Or so i've read.

Christ, soon you'll be starting your own tournament up and calling it The World Series Of Soccer and claiming to be world champions of a national competition.

xxx
That's something that @usasoccerguy would come up with.

Oh, I agree.

Mexico have been to 15 world cups and only ever won 1 knock out round game.
The USA have been to 10 world cups and likewise only ever won 1 knock out round game.

If 'el ticos' can do the business against netherlands and win a second knock out game, we'll have done as much in this world cup as the two best teams in our federation have done in 26 world cups combined.

It's a very exciting time to be a north american football fan. I think we've all been waiting for that team to finally break that glass ceiling and match the europeans when it matters and I think we might just have one who can do it, now.

I know El Ticos will play hard. I just hope CR doesn't get victimized by some snidey dive.

CONCACAF have represented well this tournament. A lot for you, the US, and El Tri to be proud of. Another win even more so, would not only be a great moment for Costa Rica (obviously!), but all of us.
