Threads from the CA - what's the score?

There were a number of very informative and interesting threads in the CA (some had actually been moved from here where they had been for quite sometime) that I would like to see revamped. I am aware some took a sour turn and became tit-for-tat nonsense which needs to be avoided - if nothing else, for the sake of the mods.

I would like to see a return of threads regarding

Trump
USA (foreign policy and general politics)
China
Musk
Russia
Ukraine
Palestine
Israel
Reform/Tory/Labour

How does it work? Can it work? It seems like most threads work fine until they are infiltrated by WUMs. If you want to defend Russia - do so in the Russia thread, same goes for Ukraine, Israel, Palestine, Labour, Reform etc..

All threads are great until derailed.

I've missed reading over a few of the threads, although I've posted less and less because of the trolls and/or imbeciles.

Ultimately, it will boil down to whether @GrandOldTeam thinks it's worth the hassle on the mods behalf, or just vetoes them.

Exactly, derailed the whole thread (2 threads).

Surely it can start its own thread celebrating the carnage being caused by DT? I do not know the answer only that it is a shame to lose such good resources due to the actions of a minority.

This is basically what I am getting at. Can we trusted? How can we avoid the same thing happening? This is why my idea about keeping partisan thoughts to the thread about that person/group/country came about. If you want to big up Putin - do it in the Russia thread.

If they come back they’re coming back heavily moderated. A.K.A. 90% of you are getting perma banned and then the “discussion” disappears.

Indeed. Same as prior the creation of Current Affairs, really.

Inevitable for some current affairs discussion, if Covid occured now, we'd no doubt have a relevant thread. We'll try and allow organic/natural threads but most will be proactively locked. If people lose their rag before that, likely banned.

Nightmare, I was the most informed man in the pub when it came to current affairs and now my main resource is gone.
