This country's pencil pushers continue to make me fume...

A Fijian man who served in the British Army for 13 years is fighting to stay in the UK after being told he must leave the country by 9 August.

Isimeli Baleiwai served in Afghanistan and Iraq, before leaving the Army in June. He is married to a UK national.

But disciplinary action for a 2010 fight with a colleague means he is considered to have a criminal record.

The Border Agency said applications for settlement by ex-forces personnel were considered the same way as all others.

A fight with a colleague means he apparently deserves to be deported after fighting for the very country trying to kick him to the curb. Disgrace.
 

It's a joke mate, the way they treat the Fijians and the Gurkhas after they complete their service is disgusting.

Yet every Eastern European benefits sponge gets a two bed house and more money a week than a single mother working two jobs to support her kids.

Cannot wait to leave this sh*thole and never come back.
 
This sort of bureacratic bollox makes my **** itch. Typical "well thems the rules" rubbish without examining the facts. i agree 100% with what jock said about the immigrants as well.

The whole benefit system is fecked. How is it possible to get more money from doing nothing in handouts than you can earn by working? needs a radical overhaul, feck off the medical scroungers (i'm not talking about genuine disability here just the pretenders) tell immigrant families they aren't entitled to any benefits until they have been employed for at least 1 calender year (paying tax) and if you haven't been in tax paying employment for a year your benefits get halved. Sounds very harsh BUT there are jobs out there. I know a lot of people are going to harrang me about saying there are jobs, i see it alot nowadays that the kids are leaving school with better qualifications (different thread rant on that one!) and coming to employers with the attitude of "I'm not doing the cleaning its beneath me". everyoone starts at the bottom

If you put your life on the line in the name of this country, the least you deserve is the right to live here.

I agree immigration is an issue that needs addressing, the resources and infrastructure of the UK are finite and reaching breaking point. Having said that, I've met loads of decent eastern Europeans who have come here to work and make a contribution. There are plenty of home grown spongers, generations of them in fact and that is as much, if not more of a problem, than immigrant spongers.
 
right...the problem is the 'pencil pushers' often dont have discretion on certain things, its easy to blame them but its the politicians/civil servants that make the stupid rules

No, fair point mate, my generalisation was wrong and unfair to the majority.

Completely agree that on the whole, those that come over are hard workers and that the big problem with benefits is the Jeremy Kyle breed.

Apologies if anyone took any offence at my statement, it wasn't how I intended it to come across.

Not offended in the least mate, and anyone who has spent more than 2 minutes on GOT would know that xenophobia isn't your thing.

Fair point -have to clarify my post. i wasn't just refering to immigrants i was generalising about the whole benefits system not just towards johnny foreigners.
