Stephens Day here lads, where did this Boxing Day come from, and what do you Yanks call it?

I think in the old days people used to give a present on Christmas day (usually in a box) and it would be opened the next day, hence boxing day - the day you open your box. (cue standard 10 posts of double entendres)
