Was just at Asda, and just as I was reversing out of my space on the car-park my phone rings, so I answered it (no hands free I must admit) so I stops as opposed to driving on, and was actually going to go back into the space.
Cue the arrival of Bodie and Doyle. Right across the front of me blocking me, so I puts the phone down and opens the door.
"you're talking on your phone"
"I know yes I was, but I am actually on a supermarket car-park and not a public highway"
"do the public have access to this car-park ?"
"of course they do but it still doesn't make it a public highway"
now he adopted an aggressive tone
" tell you what, why don't you just admit you are in the wrong and be on your way, or carry on disputing it and I'll give you a ticket"
" fair enough but can you just clarify that wether or not you would pull over if I was at the side of the rd. on the phone"
"well that wouldn't be blocking everyone....LIKE YOU ARE NOW"
"well I will be won't I given that you are across the front of me like some raid"
I still say that he couldn't have ticketed me though, not even for not having a seatbelt on, no tax, no mot, no insurance etc etc as it is not a public highway !!
