Winston Bogarde

His career at Chelsea is notable because, only weeks after signing his contract with the club, the newly-appointed manager Claudio Ranieri wanted him to leave. According to Bogarde it would be next to impossible to find a team that would offer him a contract comparable to the one he had at Chelsea . Bogarde demanded that his contract at Chelsea be respected; as a result Bogarde never played for Chelsea again. In the end, he only appeared eleven times during his four-year contract, reportedly earning £40,000 a week during this period. His contract ended in 2004.

Adebayor?

C. Ronaldo also worth a shout, if it turns out his current "depression" is down to him not getting an improved contract at Real..

Seth Johnson was a player that went to Leeds to talk to the then chairman Peter Ridsdale. Seth and his agent went in with an idea of £15k per week which was a good increase on his current deal. Ridsdale came out and said we'll offer you £20k a week and no more. The agent said they had to think about it as he wanted to play his cards close to his chest. Of course they were going to accept but when they went back into the meeting Ridsdale said our final offer is £30k a week.

The agent broke his hand off. Muppet.

Who else saw out their deal at Leeds, im sure there were a few others from the days of 'living the dream'.

Makes me chuckle that some players are on massive contracts and dont play, Kaka has almost been priced out of a move due to excesive wages and players like Mido who played at West ham for 1k a week, even tho he was still over paid some would say.

To be fair, if my employer gave me that contract, then told me to leave and take a massive wage cut, I'd tell them to do one.

Nicky Summerbee played for free at leicester didn't he? They wouldn't offer him a contract so he said he would play for nothing for the rest of the year and see if he couldn't change their mind or at least put himself in the shop window for someone else..
