i like it. i`ve thought for a while about how to update the st. john/big ron bit of that song and i reckon youve cracked it. nice one mate

Thanks Jed - but I fear this Braga vid may have a shelf life of one day! Dropping Shankley, St John and Big Ron only came to me when I realised Braga fans would have no idea who these people were. I started with Meirlles as h is ex sporting Lisbon and they do hate him, Maxi I thought was Portugeuse ( he's an Argie) and that happened to rhyme with Stevie G !

But it aint just Braga fans who wont know who Shanks etc were - most of our fans will only have a vague idea. And the one most will know is Shanks who was a great guy and ended up his life all but an Everton fan, watched us as he was kind of cold shouldered at Anfield, encouraged lots of our young players. So he is probably the one Red we should actually quite like.

But its got me thinking about a Braga free update of Royal Blue Mersey - Id still keep the traditional Bill Shankly bit (it is kind of tongue in cheek, as is the hanging I hope) but mix it up a bit with modern era and souness era types, and maybe add a few verse about other clubs we hate, old Fergie etc. What Id might do to have a stab at it and then post if for others to suggest changes before recording it. And then give the recording and video a bit of production - other singers more instruments. I keep my style simple so as I can turn things round quick and for free, but something like this would be worth doing well, even getting some sympathetic pro musician involved. I'm petty sure I could come up with a goodish first draft - its 75% in my head now - but the other 25 is the hard bit. It is above all a great wee tune - cant think of a club with a better one ( Rangers ( who I hate) have a good 60s version. It ain't even sectarian and quite funny, Celtic have a good parody of it. But ours is best - "the boys in the Royal Blue Jersey" punchline is unbeatable I reckon

hey Toffee,the Braga interest in the song may be limited-who knows, but the updated stuff fits in great and i hope it catches on
 

Well done Braga - I reckon this song could catch on over there. For a club the size of Braga that was a huge win - the best in their entire history? We should pinch the Stevie G line for our own RBM

As you can see by my handle, i'm a Braga supporter and must say I love the song, and it is an honour and a surprise that you've gone to the trouble of coming up with this great tune :)

Indeed it was a great accomplishment for the club and it comes, in my view, naturally because we're groing consistently and we're playing with ever more challenging teams. I hope one day Braga and Everton can meet up for a match. It would be a pleasure to have you all here, we're friendly and prone to drinking haha.

Thanks for the compliment. Although i think that both games (against liverpool) were quite poor, for 2 reasons, we had to be careful and liverpool couldn't play football to save it's life...

As for the draw, we're playing Dinamo Kiev in Ukrain on the 7th of April, and on the 14th we have 2nd leg at home.

Reaching the final would just be the most amazing achievement ever for us, and for sure, i wouldn't miss it for the world. Needless to say, you're all invited for the party :D

Tricky draw , but I reckon you will do it. I'm a bit closer than most, having done the song, but I reckon you ill get a lot of support from Everton fans for the rest of the competition. We will be at that Dublin party - a wee hop across the water. Dont get ahead of yourselves - one game at a time. But if you do make dublin there are a quite a few Everton supporters groups in the city who I am sure would be great hosts fro the Braga fans in particular - Check out the "Irish Evertonians" thread on this forum - introduce yourself
 
Thinking about one game at a time has been our motto for this season, and i think this will be a much harder game. Still, we'll try and go through. We never give in.

If i can stray a bit off-topic, i've been to England before, for a UEFA cup match between Tottenham and Braga. Even though we lost 3-2 it was a very pleasent trip. English people are great and all the Tott'ham we found were top chaps. I have no doubt that Everton supporters, English or Irish, are great as well.

We do understand that getting to the final...will be extremely hard, but still, we believe and we want to celebrate with you.
