Anyone played this? I've been playing this for the past couple of weeks and I'm really impressed and loving it. The graphics are extremely awesome, I've only got the game running at +-25 fps with most of the graphics options turned down, but it still looks absolutely stunning.

The game itself is great, a brilliant 3rd person perspective RPG with a different style to it. The combat requires patience and skill, instead of charging into groups of enemies and button smashing. The weapon, inventory and magic mechanics all add to the awesomeness. It's a really difficult game, even on normal, but that's what makes it so brilliant - it's challenging.

If you're one of those people who thought Dragon Age 2 was a floppy failure, Witcher 2 makes up for it on all fronts - the environments, the exploring, quests, graphics, difficulty, etc. I haven't nearly finished the game, because I've not had too much time to play, but the current direction it's heading is to the top.

I was going to buy it on PC because it's getting rave reviews and is only on PC. But it looks like there's a 360 version on the horizon now, so I'll wait for that, and if that's a decent port I'll get that.

If it's a crap port or it never comes out on console I'll just buy it on PC later; cheaper.

And it's now been officially announced for 360. They're saying it's not a port, but an "adaptation". I'm not sure if that's better or worse, really, but we'll see what happens.

I'm excited anyway.

I've got it. I've only done chapter one, but like you said it's pretty hard anyway and I am playing it on hard as I always do. It's decent tho, except for a few annoying conventions (following people is ****, have to open doors twice, takes about three years to jump up or down ledges, can only walk on specified paths). I wish I'd played the first one so I had an idea about how to do stuff, been using a tiny little hammer for nearly all the game so far, fairly sure I should have crafted something by now.

RFUS - it will actually be a lot better on 360, there's a very obvious feeling that's it been designed with that in mind.

The targeting in the combat could be better, you're right. I think they released a patch today which improves the targeting system. I don't get annoyed by those things that you do, except the door thing lol. Sometimes picking up stuff off the ground is frustrating as well, but those things don't really bother me too much. I started the game on hard and dropped to normal - I just reached chapter two and I'll probably switch back to hard again, because I'm finding some of the combat (not against bosses) is becoming easier.

Just finished the game today and it was epic and fun from start to finish. The game is definitely replayable because of major decision consequences and I'll probably do another run through when I get my new PC so I can crank up the settings. It was a real nice change to be able to play a "mature" rated game which was more mature than just foul language.

Not all the quests can be completed without using 0.001% of your brain like a lot of RPG's these days and it was more rewarding to figure some stuff out, even though it could be frustrating at times. The combat definitely got a lot easier as the game went on, which was disappointing.

Overall, the game was brilliant. It was a world you wanted to explore - the locations combined with the graphics was perfect. Because of how disappointed I was with Dragon Age 2, I've got to say that buying this game without much prior knowledge of a lot of the content, more than made up for the waste of money DA2 was. When I look back on Witcher 2 and DA2, it's like comparing a sloppy childs game to an epic RPG.

Whilst I'm glad the Witcher 2 is good, there's no need to call DA2 a childs' game. That's a bit insulting to anyone who did like it. Like me.

It was different; it went in a different direction. You did not like this direction. That's it. It doesn't make it crap, just because you wanted a more traditional experience. You should always judge something on what it does against what it tries to do, not against what you want it to do.

I'm about half way through and I still think it's arse. Then again I do seem to think 90% of games are terrible these days.

Have you played 3DS Zelda yet Riffles?

About 10 hours in, yeah. I'm not that far through the story as I've been exploring and collecting heart pieces.

It's great. In addition to all the nice little touches, just having a game of that much depth in your pocket is fantastic.

I really enjoyed the Witcher 2 and the series soo far. I must say though that starting the game, the (lack of) tutorial and the actual difficulty of the game was poorly constructed.

Now I love challenging games, but I decided to play this game on normal so I could enjoy the story the first time through, I was having massive trouble when a semi decent fight came along and it wasn't until I did a proper investigation around the journal that I was able to formulate a spacebar/Quen sign tactic.

Non of the powers were introduced or the mechanics of the game explained, for the life of me I would not be able to imagine finishing this game without using the shield/hit/roll tactic.

Anyone else find this or was I playing like a complete mong?

I've not played it, but I've seen numerous reviews and other players say the exact same thing.

Maybe my choice of words were wrong. I felt that so much was dumbed-down to suit a wider audience (the maps, combat, quests, dungeons) whereas the Witcher seemed to go the opposite direction and that's why I made a comparison like that.

The starting tutorials are quite poor. It felt like they tried to point out things you could use but not explain them at all, leaving you to fight around in the prologue and figure stuff out. But the prologue was way too difficult lol.
