Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers ready to make shock return to management with Aston Villa

Brendan Rodgers is in line for a shock return to management with Aston Villa, according to reports.
The former Liverpool boss was sacked last week but could make an immediate return to the Premier League with the Midlands club.
Villa have made an appalling start to the season and sit in the relegation zone.
Current boss Tim Sherwood has already tested the patience of the Villa hierarchy who are fed up after seeing the Villans only win once in the league this season.
And Sherwood has been given two games to save his job against Chelsea and Swansea.
Should he not win one of those matches, he will be fired and Rodgers will replace him.

apparently Moyes is also on Villa's shortlist as well.

Given their position and other stuff, they'd be well better off with Moyes, no matter who the other alternative was, but especially if it's a straight choice.

And if this is all true...

Newcastle or Villa would be nice.
Thing is even with their struggles, and even with him reading letter from the players mums to put them off, they'd be nailed on to beat us by two spawny goals at home.

I'm certain that if somebody in either Newcastle or Villa are fool enough to give him a job this season he'll take them down. Given that I've a soft spot for Villa I'd much rather it was the Geordies myself because the media fume at a 'big club' like them being relegated would be amusing and probably seal the death knell to that frauds career.

What top flight club owners in their right mind are going to hire a feller who spent £300M and came up empty handed?

He's never getting a top tier club again. And no other team could afford to hand him cash and remain financially solvent. His blarney wont fool anyone in the game a second time around.

His best bet is going into the Championship to prove he can actually get a team promoted on his own. Everyone knows he took on Martinez's system at Swansea, so it's difficult to say what impact he really had in their promotion to the PL. He needs to do it himself at a Championship outfit, get promotion, and then (maybe) he can show he can cut it at a PL club as a manager who can operate in the lower half of the table on budget.

It's a long road back for him. He's a no mark and really cant expect any other route back than the one described above.

Aye, but to be fair, only the players that worked out, and were free were actually chosen by Bodgers. All the rest were bought at stupidly high prices and against his wishes by the Transfer Committee he was on....

I would be perfectly happy with him spending another £300M of another Clubs budget for them
