What's the summer holiday plans for everyone on GOT? It's almost winter on my side of the world...... have Fiji lined up for a holiday later this month; then Bali for a week in late August. Never been to Bali before, so any (sensible) recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

That said, book dinner on the beach in Jimbaran.

Seminyak is good for restos and nik naks but not cheap

Thanks, we were actually looking at Ubud as the preferred option lol. Surely you can't go wrong with scenery like this.

but if the camerman had turned round, the scenery would have been a disgusting street full of beggars and wannabe hippies having a "spiritual experience". Avoid Kuta as it is full of bogans, Seminyak is ok and I have heard Nusa Dua is pretty good also.

Agree re Kuta - I'm envisaging it's full of bogan's and wannabe surfer-types. Which is kinda why we were thinking maybe only 2-3 days on the beach, then head for the hills for the bulk of our time in Ubud.

Bali not cheap anymore, especially wines and spirits.

Pisa in December, nothing planned for summer.

Going to Kiev in July, so I can see Chernobyl, cheap ale is a bonus and so is £35 return on Ryanair.

Then going SE asia for 5 weeks over Christmas, so crossing off Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and Bali for Xmas.

Should be fun!
