The top 6?

Greedy buggers, and I include us.

DKww2pAXcAAKNS-

To be fair, have you seen some of the fixtures on television recently? "Super Sunday" has become a farce. We all suffer because of the ludicrous amount of money Sky have paid for the premier league rights, and we as consumers have to balance that out with our subscription fees. Yet we don't even get matches we want to watch. With European football on BT now as well we're ripped off even more. The fact is the majority of the league (the bottom 10 for sure- the usual bottom ten that is, not us right now) are not attractive propositions overseas. I'm sure the likes of Palace do have fan bases spread throughout the globe, but there is not a chance that people watch the premier league for them, or the "attractive" football they play. Does anybody seriously think that people tune in overseas to watch a Tony Pulis side?

On the flip side, this is just another case of the big clubs looking to increase the gap between the haves and the have nots, which can only be bad for the competitiveness of the league.

Personally I'd love a model which somehow enabled you to buy a season pass to your teams fixtures, but it's just never going to happen. I think I'll carry on with my streams.

That bubble it keeps on getting bigger. One day it'll burst. I've been thinking that for a long old time now. Still hasn't happened though.

Never thought I'd agree with a chairman of Crystal Palace (At least it wasn't Jordan), but hey maybe that means we are in the end days and it'll all blow up on us.

We're only included out of necessity tbh. If we finished 6th they would be calling it the big 5.

We have ended an average of 4.25 in the last 8 seasons & 5.25 in the last 12. So i don't know about 'Big 6' but there is a strong argument to call us 'Top 6'.

Although SKY & BT would prefer it if we wouldn't keep spoiling the 'we've got the most money' party of the other 5.

No one ever agreed with that tin pot egomaniac Jordan. Football is eating itself. Most teams in the Premier League almost bankrupt themselves in order to avoid relegation and subsequent financial meltdown. Meanwhile, a handful of clubs glutton away more money making it even harder for the majority to compete. Leicester winning the Premier League has only extended the fantasy that it is some sort of contest. I hear all the "anyone can beat anyone" codswallop. On the day occasionally maybe, but not consistently.
Sky's hyperbole does no favours. We are being had.

it's not a thing if it keeps changing every season. How can it be top 4 one year, big 5 the next year, a top 3 this year, then a big 6 in some years. It was all proved irrelevant when leicester won the title despite never being even close to being considered title contenders. Let's just enjoy it as a competitive league which realistically all 20 have a chance of winning at the start and there's a lot more competitiveness than the other top leagues. City and united are having a purple patch, but city were just as good at the start of last season and finished nowhere really.
