If we had a better squad we wouldn’t have to rely on the kids so much. They should be players we go to when we have injuries rather than being first choice.

The words experience, reliable, hard working and disciplined all spring to mind.

We'll see.

..i’d have agreed but he got a tune out of the likes of Anelka and Diouf who were hardly any of those things. Just seen his interview, he said he’s going to talk with the senior players and ask them why their performance level dipped. He said they need to step up their game to allow the youngsters to flourish.

I don’t know, the next few months could be interesting. I think Saturday is important, folk seem to think it’s a given but footy is rarely like that. Two wins going into the Derby will be loads better than the feeling we all had last Sunday.

I agree but we need to have a conveyor belt of one or two coming through each season so the squad is packed full and then ultimately let one or two go, cutting our player spending but allowing rotation and at least 2 players per position. Situation with Baines is a typical example, 2 years ago we had too many LBs, but because we didn't rotate and let Garbutt develop, we've basically lost out on him. Oviedo might of been the back up, but when he got injured we didn't pull Garbutt back into the squad. Not sure what happening in u23s now for LB, but there's no one pushing Baines out of the door, even at his age.
