The Solar Eclipse

Funny! I was just on that forum today, hoping to find some wing-nut explanations for how they explain the eclipse. It seems they say there is a "dark object" that can occasionally blocks the sun, and that because astronomers haven't explored the sky thoroughly, we have trouble keeping track of it, but it every so often drifts in front of the sun and causes an eclipse. (I'm not making this up...they are).

not happening is it? i don't think if it happens here i'll be able to see it anyway because it's cloudy. ah well, watch the ton instead.

Cloudy but the glasses helped you to still see it. Wasn't overly impressed as I was in England when they last one happened there so eclipses are old news to me. #GlobeTrotter #MehAnotherEclipse #UnimpressedByAmazingCelestialDance

The only thing I learned from this inconvenient and slight dimming of a perfectly sunny afternoon was that the sun, even at only 20%, is still tremendously bright...because it's a f__kin HUGE STAR!
It's actually slightly smaller than average, for a star. It's just a lot, lot closer than the others.
