The Soccer Tournament

verreauxi

Player Valuation: €864

Anyone else a fan of this? [yes, it's gimmicky, not "pure" football, etc.,]. It's a 7v7 million dollar footie tournament held in North Carolina each year; the matches are short and pretty fun and if you go in the early rounds multiple games are going on at once and you can bounce around from pitch to pitch. I might try to go down for a day or two.

So Pasha Luxury, a team consisting of Oumar Niasse, Amadou Diallo, Tom Huddlestone, Bakary Sako, Anthony Knockaert, Adrian Mariappa, among others went out in the semi-finals losing to "Bumpy Pitch" FC, which is mostly uni-level players and indoor players. Was a fun match to watch. Pumas de Alabama, a team consisting of lots of former Mexican pros (mostly at the 2nd tier) absolutely crushed a team consisting of former USMNT players.

And yes, you all have been wating for these exciting, scintillating, seat-of-your pants updates...so...you're welcome.

I've seen a few matches of this tournament and really love the way they structure games. Thought about possibly traveling for it but the timing just didn't work out.

Yeah, I really had plans to drive down (about a 4 hour drive from where I live in Virginia), but ended up not going. I think the early rounds during the week are the best bang-for-buck, 24+ matches with like 8 simultaneous games, and you can spend an evening walking from match to match, and stop at the bevie stands for a coldie. Good to see the women's bracket expand from last year as well.
