….i suspect some will be having a bet, notice Tommy Fleetwood is 40-1 to be top combined scorer 1/4 odds 1st 4) & 14-1 to European. I know he’s an Evertonian but not sure I’m tempted by that.

Without being disloyal, Morikawa 18-1 for top scorer seems a bit of e/w value to me.

I’m not sure how much Tommy’s even going to play, hence the big price.

…very good point, he’s not been selected for the Foursomes.
I think he’s too erratic for foursomes currently. He’s playing plenty of good golf but he’s throwing in some really poor shots at times that are destroying his card.

I’m sure he’ll play in the four balls, if they put someone stay next to him, he’s still got the game to do very well in that format. If he gets a win it’ll be hard to leave him out the foursomes tomorrow.

I’ve talked myself in to doing him again here. Blind loyalty to a fellow blue.

I have been weighing up a bet on the USA at 4/9 .
They say the yanks have 8 of the world's top ten while Europe has 1 also .
I don't know( perhaps someone will know) how many majors have been won by each team but I would imagine it is heavily in favour of the yanks.I know it is a team game but like football if you have the better players you should win.

The world ranking aren't a true reflection of world golf as world ranking points for the US events are worth considerably more than those for European events. It's not as bad as it was previously as most Europeans spend a lot of time in the US now however they do still travel back a lot which does effect them.

This isn't the first time they've been considerably better in the rankings, they always are but I do feel this time the European team is quite weak with a lot of players out of form however, I'd never rule them out, Match play under this pressure is a completely different game as far as I'm concerned. It's not golf as these players know and the Europeans do seem to love this format of the game much more than the Americans.

In my opinion, all these golfers can play. The elite players do it week in week out hence why they stay at the top but playing in a one off round under these conditions is very, very different and all these players can pull wins out of the bag.

I see what your saying but I am still going with the yanks as they apart from Rahm have all the form players.
Should be fascinating to watch though mate.

They almost always have higher ranked players and more majors but they count for very little really.

If the US get their pairings wrong it can go badly wrong for them. Mickelson and Woods were by far the best 2 players in the world at the time but were a disaster when paired together.

Europe's first and last morning pairings look strong, all 4 of the US pairings look strong. It'll be an interesting start.

Harrington indicated all 12 will play today so at least everyone will be bloodied. Be interesting to see who he pairs Shane Lowry with - Poulter or Fleetwood I would guess, probably Fleetwood as Poulter maybe wont play twice each day.

Friday morning foursomes

Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia v Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth (1.05pm)

Paul Casey and Viktor Hovland v Dustin Johnson and Collin Morikawa (1.21pm)

Lee Westwood and Matt Fitzpatrick v Brooks Koepka and Daniel Berger (1.37pm)

Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter v Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele (1.53pm)

Friday afternoon fourballs pairings announced later today.
Tee-off times at 6.10pm, 6.26pm, 6.42pm and 6.58pm
