Giving this it's own thread seeing as it's been put in the Grand Final one.

Strange decision by The Rugby League to host a World Cup & then play a 'home' game in Wales ?

Aussies beat England yesterday... no change there tbh. England made a good start but the Kangaroos did what they do & won the game.

Home advantage in the Millenium Stadium didn't exactly do the Welsh any good though as they were turned over by Italy a.k.a. descendents of immigrants to Oz in the 60's & 70's, could be dark horses in the comp really, not gonna win it but likely to make enough of an impression to affect group placings.

Tonga are based down the road from me so I'll try to get some pics of them, they play Samoa on Bommy Night...... another strange one tbh as the Rugby League again shoot themselves in the foot, trying to get locals in when all the kids are interested in is launching 'onions with a fuse' at the nearby 'arl arse windows that had no sweets at Halloween.

It'll be Aus v NZ in the final more than likely unless someone flukes a result along the way & they have to play each other in the Semi.

My youngest met the Tongans yesterday actually on his way to footy training, said they are all MASSIVE.

I thought it was decent performance from England for the most-part, too many errors at crucial times cost them the win though and Cudjoe and Ablett simply aren't at the level required for a team aspiring to win the World Cup.

Off to Rochdale tomorrow night for the Fiji vs Ireland game.

The Italians are decent dark horses, but the fact they're not in any way italian (All born in australia, all play in australia), makes it hard to root for them as underdogs.

yeah seems to be alot of this, cant really take it serously as a 'world cup'

Rugby League has a World Cup too? Hahahaha, its ace. A jarg rugby code full of lids on steds who aren't skillful enough to play Union pretending that anyone's arsed about their "sport'!

australia weren't at their best yeterday and england scored with just about every attack. wales' defence was terrible, italy were pretty impressive though.

just walked past the aussie team bus in cardiff a few hours ago. would have walked on and asked for autographs had i 1)been arsed, 2)know any of the players, 3) had a pen and paper and 4)wasn't carrying shopping

True. There's probably a new zealand born player in just about every squad too, like.

But yeah I was hoping that lebanon would make it over Italy, cos they actually play it in their own country and the italians don't.

I'm just happy for the sport to get a stage in which to grow and hopefully attract new fans. It needs Australian Italians to showcase the talent that league can offer. If that then inspires a few thousand Italians to take up the sport, I will let it slide. It's a sport that is on the cusp of bigger things, if it can get a more global audience.
