The race for 7th....

Not looking too bad at the moment.....

It's not 'success' per-se, however it would be nice to be part of BIG 8 next season (which is what the media will call it if we finish 7th)....

They have Norwich away then Fulham + Chelsea at home and then Swansea away....

We have Fulham home then Stoke + Wolves away then Newcastle home....


Currently of course we're 2 points ahead with a +1 goal difference....


I think if we can beat Fulham then with our impetus we'll finish 7th.

Finishing in European position may also give Moyes and Bill an excuse not to shake things up....

I am hoping this is FINALLY the season Moyes changes a few players around.

It's not 'success' per-se

To be honest I still feel it's important that we stay the best of the rest. This is Moyes' biggest achievement, making sure we are consistently better than the rest, apart from the very best, that is.

The problem of course is that the very best used to be just 4 clubs (the fabled big 4), but now with Spurs, Citeh and Newcastle there are 8 clubs including us and our neighbours that are good and have European aspirations.

Finishing the best of the rest now means finishing 7th or 8th, not 4th or 5th like it used to. This means we still lose out on European competition.

So much work to do...personally, I think we need an entirely new management & coaching team to step up. But otherwise, Moyes has done very well in keeping us up there on a consistent basis. It's a decent achievement finishing 7th or 8th. It's not, however, good enough.

If we beat Fulham you've got to fancy us. They've got Chelsea to play before the FA cup final and will probably rest players. Chelsea probably won't because they're going for fourth.

I've only ever seen us finish above Liverpool once since I was old enough to watch games. It would be nice to do so again even if it's a bit hollow because of their succes in the cups and the derbies.

I in no way at all have any envy towards Nooo'cassle, so what if they get CL ? they were in the Championship last year and Pardew will be lost on the continent, reiterating the cockney saying of "you haven't got a fakcin Pardew." They will quite likely go down again in the next 3 years.
