Player Valuation: £2.5m
Barry may be resigned next season but is 33 and as such will probably only be effective for two more years at best. Gibson is oft injured and probably not at the quality of a team with top four goals as we are. That said, who is your ideal man for the future, what qualities should he have, and who would you like to see come in if we either fail to sign Barry or need a new man in two-three years?

Just someone tall, strong and that wants to win so desperately, haven't had that kinda player since cahill tbh. Someone young say 23/24 that's has leadership qualities in them to go on be captain, like a viera say, matic looks one too at chelsea

Reckon we should sell gibson and invest in 4 new ones for next season.

My choice would be Riquelme off the striker, Ofoe in the middle, Leroy Fer breaking the attacks up and Banega providing the skills.

all can probably be signed for around 12 million total as well, problem solved

Gibson is quality, if he can stay fit he is definitely good enough mate.
But yeah, sign Yaya Toure please.

Gibson as stated is injured alot -- doesnt matter how good he is if hes never on the pitch.

Lundstram, Green and now Ledson seem to be the conveyor belt for this position though green more attacking perhaps.

Otherwise it will be a backup player I think rather than spending cash.

Alex Song

Great shout if we could get him. Someone like him. We need someone who is an above average athlete at this level, big, strong and mobile. Who is obviously also very good technically.

For too long we've not been mobile enough in midfield and our side has been very small and pedestrian there. In big games we need big characters to help drive us on.

sandro....has fallen out of favour abit at spurs, but is as good a defensive midfielder as there is in the league....

cleverly...as much as i think he's been poor at united, he done well with Martinez at Wigan....sometimes the expectations at United are too much on young players (fellaini wasn't bad for us was he?)....on last year of contract so would be cheap....

People seem to forget how good Gibson was.

I think some people also forget the level he was playing at last season. He started well and faded, he rarely played searching balls forward. He was useful defensively, but most think quality forward passing and shooting when they think of Gibbopotamus. For me, he was very weak on both counts for most of his time in the team last season.

I like him, and he looked promising in preseason but I think at this point its more realistic to think we should look elsewhere due to his injury issues than it is to expect this creative shooting threat type of player to appear again.

Although ive a lot of trust in Bobby to work with players before he would ever discard them...IF they fit what he wants.
