Marty is (allegedly) a British intel asset and has been from near the start. The whole idea being to have a limited and controlled civil conflict in which both sides were owned at the highest level by the London elites and the hawks being removed via assassination (eg. the SAS wiping out the E Tyrone brigade of the IRA at Loughgall). The goal? A peace process leading to an eventual united Ireland - heavily funded by Britain - which the thicky unionist majority will sleepwalk into.
