I remember seeing this poor sparrow in a park, it must have fallen out of its nest and its wing was broken. It was in a bad way and fluttering about, peeping and chirping. It was never going to fly again and likely it was going to just flutter and chirp about on the ground for a few more hours. Others had also gathered around it, but no one really took any decisive action. Thankfully a cat came along and did a very quick dispatch; it was as if the cat knew that the sparrow had lost its purpose and the cat mercy-killed the injured sparrow straight-away. Everyone who was standing around watching this poor sparrow was quite relieved and we were eternally grateful toward the cat.
