The plot thickens

Ive not got kids, but if any of my family was stuck in the house id go back in. i wouldnt think of the danger i would want them out alive. for them not to say a lot (if thats what they did)

The prosecution will absolutely destroy them.

They'll be painted (probably justly) as a pair of lazy layabouts who regretted having so many kids and decided to off them all to save the hassle.

I always thought they seemed a bit weird in the press conference they gave after it happened. Crocodile tears.

Eye on the the TV
'Cause tragedy thrills me
Whatever flavor it happens to be, like...
"Killed by the husband"
"DROWNED by the ocean"
"Shot by his own son"
"SHe used a poison
in his tea...kissed him goodbye"
It's my kind of story
It's no fun 'til someone dies

Don't look at me like
I am a monster
Frown out your one face
But with the other
Stare like a junkie
Into the TV
Stare like a zombie

While the mother holds her child
Watches him die
Hands to the sky crying,
"Why, oh why?"

Cause I need to watch things die... from a distance
Vicariously I live while the whole world dies
You all need it too, don't lie

Why can't we just admit it?
Why can't we just admit it?
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing
Neither the brave nor bold
write as the story's told
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing

I need to watch things die... from a good safe distance
Vicariously I live while the whole world dies
You all feel the same, so...

Why can't we just admit it?

Blood like rain falling down
Drawn by the brave and proud

Part vampire
Part warrior
Carnivorous Voyuer
Stare at the transmitter
Sing to the death rattle

La, la, la, la, la, la-la-lie (x4)

Credulous at best
Your desire to believe in
Angels in the hearts of men
But pull your head on out
you hippies and give a listen
Shouldn't have to say it all again

The universe is hostile, so impersonal
Devour to survive... so it is, so it's always been

We all feed on tragedy
It's like blood to a vampire

Vicariously I live while the whole world dies
Much better you than I

Innocent until proven guilty so I'll reserve comment until then.

Too right. As I said above, the CPS don't sound entirely convinced, but feel that they have to prosecute "in the public interest". Some of these types of cases have fallen flat on their faces in the past. I'm thinking specifically of the Stagg one. Not sure they have overwhelming evidence, but are hoping that maybe they have enough to clinch a prosecution.

In fairness though it's difficult to think how anyone else could have been motivated to do this. Strange that the parents got out OK like.

Derby City Council have confirmed that applications for Mick Philpot's council house have more than doubled, after the fire caused extensive improvements.

It's been suggested that the parents charged with murdering their six children may have started the fire because they wanted to be given somewhere bigger to live.

They're going to be delighted when they see the size of Belmarsh.

That quote sounds like a typical response really, not sure why you think it doesn't sound very convincing ?

Just that it sounded like they, on balance, feel that they have enough to prosecute, as opposed to having overwhelming proof.

If, as suggested above, they did this because they wanted somewhere bigger to live, it might be difficult to prove intent to murder.
