Watching him this season, especially against Man Utd, his composure on the ball and passing are just immense. He reminds me of when Pirlo left England with rather tender backsides a couple of years ago.

Does anyone think Stones could do a job in midfield?

Don't see the point when he's got everything to be a world class centre half. I'm sure he could do a job there, but it'd be a square peg in a round hole.

Plus, as a ball playing centre-half, he steps into midfield a lot anyway. There's more Beckenbauer about him than Pirlo.

There's a big difference between bringing the ball out from centre back and having all the play in front of you as opposed to playing in midfield and having things going on around you. He's a centreback and looking like he could be one of the finest Everton and England have had for years, leave him there and let the boy develop properly in his natural position.

Sorry it's a terrible idea.
