Every year, girlfriends and wives across the country think they have won, but time and time again, it rears it's head to steal away their men. The Barclays Premier League is once again, set in motion.

It never really stops, with spill over from the old season taking us into transfer window and pre season, then straight back to the next season. But whilst the mighty Everton do not play until monday, today is where it really begins again. With 14 Premier League teams in action today across the country, everyone will be hoping to get off to the best start.

Everton, who as you know do not play until monday, have had so far, what has seemed a strange pre season and transfer window time. What with a small amount of pre season games due to a trip to Indonesia canceled. But also, the lack of players going out, and the promise of new players coming in.

Rodwell has gone to City for what is being reported as £12 million and rising with add ons, Yobo has gone, Cahil has decided the MLS is the right place to see out his career and that is pretty much it. With the fears of losing key players such as Baines and Fellaini being fairly strong at the start of the window, we SO FAR appear to have come out quite well. We have brought in Pienaar, Naismith and are reported to be bringing in Mirallas and possibly M'Baye Niang. ( Ben Mclaughlin, a young irish defender has also signed in a smaller deal, with Barkley looking like he is going out on loan for experiance )

Tim Cahil has moved to NY Red Bulls

Steven Naismith has signed for Everton

So, if these players complete their reported and promising looking signings, and we keep hold of our key players, it COULD be a promising season for The Blues. How ever, one can never really fully expect a strong start to a season from Everton, it is good to be optimistic.

Let The Games Commence ... at 3:00Pm.

Boss that mate, I hate the Premier League. Love Everton though.

Anyone with any brains loves Everton.

I love the new season too bud, Mrs Jock is wearing a resigned look today because she's lost me for the next 10 months.

Jock, get her to do what Mrs Groucho does and get in to football.

Good write up that fella. Said it before, feeling reasonably upbeat about the coming season.

Haha, either that or suppressing the joy of some peace and quiet ?
Or is it more of a "oh god, i have to listen to the post match fume" ? haha.

She already is, in as much as she's a Wolves fan. I have tried to convert in the past but no success.

Haha probably secretly enjoys the peace. Still trys to get me to do things on a Saturday though the monster.

When rivers flow from sea to source,

When the cat makes peace with the mouse.

When the dustcart is drawn by a five-legged horse,

And the Cockney can speak pure Scouse.

When Sinners are welcomed in Heaven,

When Saints are consigned to Hell.

When nine minus four totals seven,

And badgers in birds’ nests dwell.

When honey is made by Black Widows,

When cobwebs are woven by bees.

When the sun sinking low casts short shadows,

And banknotes are plucked from the trees.

When the Dead climb back out of their coffins,

When the Living lie down in their stead,

Then shall we forsake The Toffees,

And follow the Anfield Reds.
