The new play acting

Isn't the point that they are now more likely to do it or milk it ?

Yeah that's a fair point, and to be honest i think after play was stopped in a game at the weekend for a head injury in the area i actually wondered why players hadn't started faking head injuries to break up play.

I hadn't actually seen any incidents where they had and it was proven after a replay, surely if they had the commentators and people posting in "today's football" would have mentioned it.

So wondered if there were any examples i'd missed someone could link, which should have been easy for the OP as he was "seeing it all the time".

If a player is suspected of a head injury they must be made to leave the field for a full examination, with a free sub being allowed to temporarily replace them. If they cannot return, that sub stays on as a free sub.

To be honest they do it all the time head injuries or not - really irritates me banging the floor screaming in pain - ref stops game and the trainer doesn't even come on !!! R/S worse than anyone - every lost tackle becomes a foul with player 'in agony;. Does my head in . Personally think if the game is stopped for any injury trainer comes on compulsory and as you say off the pitch for 5 minutes. Would sort out the time wasters- after all seriously injured players would be subbed any way. Only allowance would be if injured players took themselves off so not interfering/stopping play could come back on whenever. Would allow the game to flow and stop the cheating.

It's not so much the faking of head injuries, but the general rolling around on the ground pretending to be injured that is the problem. I always find it amazing how many players need treatment in the last 5 minutes when 1-0 up, but they never seem to get those injuries when they are 1-0 down.

Refs are too quick to let them back on the field after these "injuries". If they were made to stay of for 2-3 minutes, I think we would see a huge reduction. You stay down for 1 minute, you stand on the sideline for 1 minute, stay down for 2 minutes, you stand on the sideline for 2 minutes. Refs also need to ensure they add that time on at the end of the game too.

If you are 1-0 up and your team now only has 10 players for a couple of minutes, your manager is not going to be too impressed.

That could be exploited to get an extra sub. Feeling a bit tired, fake a head injury. Osman comes on for you, scores a hat trick and you win the galactic championship.
Ok the last part is a bit far fetched by my basic point stands

I guess you could say that any player withdrawn for a head injury must miss the next game 'as a precaution'.
