The most interesting period in history?

Any history has some fascinating parts to it. Be it the characters or the cultures or the events, there is always something of note that is interesting.
Personal preference is the rise and decline of the Roman Empire, particularly some cultural elements of it.

Read quite a bit about that myself, being a bit of a warmonger. Very interesting how modern America seems to be running along the same lines.
