Davy Jones, the British-born lead singer of 1960s pop group The Monkees, has died aged 66.
Jones, who was the main teen idol in the former pop quartet, died at a hospital in Florida.

Medical officials did not comment on the cause of his death.

The Monkees had several hits, including Last Train to Clarksville and I'm A Believer, and sold millions of records.

Jones and his cohorts - Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork - were put together to star in their self-titled TV show between 1966 and 1968.

He had an early start in showbusiness as Ena Sharples' grandson in Coronation Street.

Too young. And to think he didn't even live long enough to join the likes of Flea and Keidis in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. What a world we live in. RIP Davey. Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.

Bit of a coincidence here as Frank and I were posting on here the other night and we both ended up quoting monkees songs for some reason..

i don't wish to make light of the sad situation but Frank... do you know any cher lloyd songs ??
