Player Valuation: £80m
The club has never had anything like since the Moores era until now. The club could be on the brink again of achievement under our new owner.
Some might argue that everton's demise started when John moores influenced diminished. Certainly don't remember us failing to land targets in the 70s, my late father said if we wanted a player in the 60s we got them no matter what. Collins, Kendall, ball, Kay all top quality players brought to the club for big money back in the day. I just hope moshiri is just as ruthless, although the competition is much greater in monetary terms these days. The club has never had anything like since the Moores era until now. He did, pretty sure made his debut at GP against RS in a cup game, came on as sub.I'm pretty sure Snodin picked us over the rs.
Tbf, you are going to have to put the RS in that list.
Am I right in thinking John Moores had his finger in the pie at Anfield also as his son was their chairman with financial backing ?They were not in the bracket when we were the Mersey Millionaires, the big 5 were as stated, Everton, Villa, Spurs, Arsenal and MU.
As for Tony Kay, I remember him as a powerful box to box player with a fearsome tackle, a range of passes and a great shot. Bit like a bigger Howard Kendal. May be wrong, but I thought he wore No. 6, ie a left half, with Jimmy Gab. on the right. I think he replaced Brian Harris in the team. Brian was an absolute gent, by the way, but that's another story.Just missed him my father and older brother seen him and raved about him being the best right half they. had ever seen just about to go, and he got his life ban!
Tony Kay would have displaced Nobby Styles in the 1966 World Cup team - Brian Harris made way for him when he joined us in his autobiography BH heard the rumour that HC was going to sign Kay stormed into see HC to ask was their any truth in the press rumour - no way said HC - BH and. Labby went somewhere for the day got to lime st all over the newspaper ad boards was Everton sign Kay - BH was not amused!I remember reading the term "Merseyside millionaires" in the early 60's, but it could have started before then, for all I know.

Don't know about Kay's attitude but my dad said he was one great player, seem to recall him telling me the match he bet on, which he played in himself he was named man of the match but his team lost. Criminal that he career ended not long after he joined us.Tony Kay would have displaced Nobby Styles in the 1966 World Cup team - Brian Harris made way for him when he joined us in his autobiography BH heard the rumour that HC was going to sign Kay stormed into see HC to ask was their any truth in the press rumour - no way said HC - BH and. As it turned out Brian played for his place, and got his rewards Howard Kendall displaced Jimmy Gabriel, Labby stated Kay was the most arrogant B he had ever come across, but a great player, and Alan Ball would have loved him as he was a ruthless tackler, but then would we have ever Seen the great Ball Harvey , and Kendall - I doubt it!
To think what they get away with now yes it was harsh back in those days!Don't know about Kay's attitude but my dad said he was one great player, seem to recall him telling me the match he bet on, which he played in himself he was named man of the match but his team lost.
