Player Valuation: £70m
The last time we faced Leicester City away on the opening day of the season was 1985-86 when a certain Gary Lineker had made his Everton debut against his former employers. Mark Bright who replaced Lineker at Filbert Street became their hero on that day by scoring two if I can recall as we lost 3-1 with Derek Mountfield scoring our consolation.
Lets hope that history doesn't come back and repeat itself with another bad result.

So strange that we announce we will play them in preseason and then two days later get drawn to play them first up in the league.

Brighty never really followed that up at Filbert Street and ended up on loan at Port Vale. It was there where he was scouted by Sir Stevie Coppell who told him "We've got a raw young lad on our books, I reckon you two might make a decent pair." The rest is (Palace) history.
