The Kieran Dowell Appreciation Thread

As mentioned in other threads, Kieran has left the club and moved to Norwich, where he'll doubtless end up appearing with Alan Partridge on local TV while promoting Delia's new book, so he now belongs in World Football.

I saw him play quite a bit at youth level, and he looked a real talent, but it hasn't really happened for him as he stepped up to first team football. Obviously I wish the lad from Ormskirk well, and hope he settles down and makes the most of his undoubted talent, but I can't say I'm surprised to see him leave.

What say you ?

edit : Sake. To add insult to injury, I spelt his name wrong as well, and now can't change it in the poll.

Im also posting on page one, which means I’ll be vaulted for life if he does go good.

Not good enough, goes missing far too often and too slow.

Ormskirk Ozil.

Hope he proves a point.

At least he's chosen to leave at a young age rather than sit on a wage. Probably got told he's not getting an extension.

Shame he didn't step up. Sure he'll come good in a few years and be desired by a few challenging clubs. Some players develop later. Shame we and he ran out of patience.

I think him leaving is the right thing for both club and player in that we probably get a couple of million for him, and he gets some stability in his career.

All the managers and their staff since Martinez have been happy to sanction sending him out on loan for the last few seasons, which probably tells us something.

Hopefully he'll graft at Norwich and end up playing at Premier League level in the future. But, if he doesn't, and the Championship ends up being his level, then he'll still have a successful and financially rewarding career in the game.

Thought he looked a half decent player tbh Carlo obviously didn't fancy him so fair enough, just hope we didn't give him away.

Really talented youth player but, as wingers often are, could be erratic. However was very fun to watch when on form, hope the move works out well for him and that when he inevitably scores against us in a cup competition it isn’t too damaging.

Have to admit to feeling guilty as I possibly cursed him by sponsoring his thread

I do still think if a manager believed in him and gave him a pretty consistent run even when he messed up he could make it. Maybe Everton aren't the place for that, but for his sake I hope Norwich are.

Best of luck to him and anyone who comes up through our youth system...it's taken for granted how special that is, compared to the majority of other major sports around the world.
