Ok, firstly this is my 3rd post and 1st thread on this site, due to the fact i didn't know this site existed and spent most of my time sucking in negativity on Bluekipper ....so i hope you don't pull you nose up on this thread.

I'm glad to see we are finally looking to be finalizing a few players in the next coming days, but i feel as tho we are "building a jigsaw and leaving a big ass gap in the middle where we have lost the main peices". Yes we maybe buying Milito, Love, M'bia and....hmmmm smith?! But we need MOUTHINHO, we NEED this type of player. Without creativity, which Arteta, Osman and Pienaar have just about managed to do last season, we wont be advancing from last season. I wont rest till this fella is signed.

Not sure we NEED him, sure he would be a great addition, but I would say we need more of an M'Bia type player at the moment, someone with a big of height/strength.

i agree with you in a way, but i main priority should be the holding midfielder in my opinion

although i want Moutinho as much as everyone on here, i think Pienaar, Osman and Arteta create enough chances for us to be up there again

the reason i think we need moutinho is for a link from defence to midfeild.

the only natural passer in the team is arteta and he is needed out on the wings.

pienaar , arteta and osman will create chances but theres no one in the middle who can comfortably pick a pass to them.

moutinho in the middle will provide the amunition we need for more goals.

none of our other tagets will provide that as much.

We do need him, It's important that we get a natural dictator in the middle of the park, someone who can control possession and has the ability to pass both short and long. Arteta could do it but he's on the wings, Fernandes could do it but he's gone. Osman and Pienaar are tidy players but there not players who are going to run games.

In Europe this type of players are needed and in the Prem someone who can pick up and slow down a game is key. Liverpool have players like Alonso and Gerrard, Cheslea have Deco, Man utd have Scholes and Carrick whereas Arsenal have Fabregas.

I'd say getting Moutinho or someone of his ilk is just as important as getting a ball winning dominant defensive midfielder.

what im trying to get at is, we need that star player, we need that player who makes the difference between us and the rest behind us. Ok we have a few decent attacking midfielders, and the defensive midfielder is crucial in being replaced, but i can only explain it as....we just need "that" player.

I agree if you look at all the games last season inc sunderland we never controlled high percentages of the possession, we are desperate for a player who will control the pace of the game and will not be rushed into panic whilst on the ball.
I was hopeing manny would get that role.

i agree with this post,but only slightly.

yes,we do need that player that can push us ahead of everyone else - spurs have berbatov/modric,city have jo,etc. however,it could be argued that we have arteta/cahill/pienaar/etc.

although i really do want moutinho at the club.

Totally agree, which is why he's (according to contacts) the top top priority target we've been after all summer.

And we're slowly slowly getting closer.

It seems DM is absolutely committed to getting him signed.

Thinking about it I do think this will happen. It'll probably be a late deal and there will be alot of negotiating but I do feel this will go through.

Patience is key though, signing Mbia, Love and Smith will help us. Moutinho signing wil come towards the end of the transfer window.

Yeah i believe this will happen myself, signing a world class youngster doesn't take a week. Instead of smith though, i wouldn't mind us turning our attention to manny, i really cant see the big problem in signing this lad, surely 3million now and add ons next season wouldn't do much harm eh? But i haven't seen the boards bank statements i suppose! Maybe having Manny/Moutinho added onto our list of attacking mids would mean theres too many, but not when you competing in 4 tournaments.
