The hype around John Stones

Surely, it's no longer hype....the lad is genuinely going to be a World Class centre back. He's already good enough to start for any team in Europe....I'd go as far as saying that he's possibly the hottest young prospect in the whole of Europe already, buts that's being rude to the lad, because he's not a prospect, he's genuinely a top, top quality player.
I thought about all the players I'd seen in that position in nearly 45 years of watching football whether domestic, European or international, and how many centre halves I've witnessed with the poise, the skill and the supreme ability that John Stones has. And to be honest, very few names came into my head and stayed there. I originally described him to non-Blues at work as the new Rio Ferdinand....in hindsight that was a sloppy comparison as he's more advanced at this age than Ferdinand was by a long chalk.

Who do the older posters compare to him from the players they've seen. Is it too far-fetched to think he could be that special player of a group of generations that really is imperious? To far fetched to think in terms of ability he is in the very top bracket with the Cruyffs and the Beckenbauers with his technical ability, his supreme calmness and his self-belief?

Ridiculous as it seems he has the coolness and ball carrying ability of Beckenbauer and the potential to be as good as Bobby Moores in the tackle but needs more experience yet to be compared.

That slalom run out of defense tonight (1st half) was breathtaking.

Very far-fetched to put him anywhere near that bracket (for now), but the good news is he does recall Der Kaiser and is on the right path. Check out Beckenbauer videos from the 1966 World Cup...very Stones-esque!
