The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

I think one of the Hobbit's problems is it is too much like LOTR; especially Part 1.

And it isn't terrible. But it isn't very good either. It is entertaining, but that does not make it great. Reality TV is entertaining.

So much of the added/made up parts are completely unnecessary.

Still, Desolation of Smaug is way better than Part 1, which was dreadful.

It's really, really not. I honestly don't find reality TV entertaining. Oh well, if people think it's 'dreadful' so be it. But what I personally like it that there's also a huge production behind the film to get it made which is something which a lot of people would probably find interesting. It's incredible what goes into it and I think that can be appreciated in itself.

Quite liked it but I wish more people died. Did anyone major actually die? They're all just invincible, I mean the stuff with Legolas jumping all over those barrels was just a bit stupid when you realised that these people couldn't be killed if there was a million orcs surrounding them.

It's not real, like...although I've seen a few Orcs in my time.

Of course but at least Lord of The Rings actually killed off a few big characters, this was just a bit too Disney-esque in the way that everyone's invincible except the bad ones. Obviously if that's the way the book is written then they don't have much room to move within.

Read the book or wait until the last film.
