The Hitman vs Malignaggi

I recall a fighter just surviving for a few rounds, it was Michael Watson and he inflicted Nigel Benns first career loss on him. Nigel punched himself out in the opening four or five rounds and had nothing in the tank later. Saw Ali carry this off against Foreman, absorb a few punches and let the opponent blow himself out. Was a tough stoppage (Malignaggi), hed been outclassed! but Lacy took more of a pounding from Calzaghe and he saw the end of the twelfth.
Suppose the corners know their fighter better than anyone else, so their judgement has to be the right one.

i think the difference was the others you mention had a punchers chance, poor malgnaggi couldn't knock the skin of a rice pudding, so once he couldn't win on points he was pretty stuffed.:D

From what little i've seen of Mailignaggi, ok he's quick in training, and he talks the talk, just because he say's he's the big train doesn't mean he's telling the truth. He's awful, i watched the Cotto fight, and the one in manchester in June, and again last night he offered absolutely nothing to back up his claims of being great.

He is always backing out when throwing his punches, as a result there's no power, his feet are glued to the floor, his head movement is slow. If you're fighting for the belt, you need these characteristics otherwise you have no chance.
