For me its got to be a Beefheart album and id go for:

Captain Beefheart -The Clear Spot.

Has there been any decent albums in the last fifteen years?

Your username sounds like an STI.

Just thought I'd get that out there first.

My favourite overall album has got to be Take Off Your Pants and Jacket by Blink 182. Just brilliant from start to finish.

Obviously there's no such thing, but personally, in terms of influence, innovation, consistency and quality I'd go for:

And the best live album:

Thrice - Vhiessu.

Unreal album, energy and beautiful song-writing combine to make one of the best Post Hardcore albums ever.

Here's the opening track, its actually fairly out of character with the rest of the album, more commercial, for sure.

Thrice's new album is fantastic.

hmm there's loads, Alice In Chains - Dirt, Pearl Jam - Ten, Severenth - Reveal, Killswitch Engage - Alive Or Just Breathing, Slipknot - Slipknot, Metallica - Master Of Puppets, i can go on and on forever

Sandinistas - The Clash
Revolver/Rubber Soul - The Beatles
Heavy Weather - Weather Report
Cookin' with the Miles Davis Quintet - Miles Davis Quintet
The Black Sea - XTC
Don Juan's reckless Daughter - Joni Mitchell
My Aim is True - Elvis Costello

How obvious, but these are the only albums I listen to that would probably be worthy of the ultimate gong

Got to agree with the Funeral shouts, it's an amazing album as is Pet Sounds.

Also in answer to the OP there has been so many 'decent' albums in the last year that it would be ridiculous to try and list them all.
