GROUP C
THE PRODUCERS (1968)
![]()
At the risk of influencing the vote, I've got to say - I freakin' love this film. The whole thing is insanely good, but the moment it breaks into "Springtime for Hitler" I'm in tears every single time.
I'm not talking about the modern remake, which was contrived and terrible. The original, featuring Gene Wilder, was a comedic masterpiece and features some of the most memorable scenes in film history.
"Don't be stupid, be a smarty, come and join the Nazi party!"
MONTY PYTHON & THE LIFE OF BRIAN (1979)

At this point, I'd like to point out that these groups have been randomly drawn. So, if your favourite film has had the misfortune to be drawn in the same group as this absolute masterpiece then unlucky!
It's the film about Brian; a man who is not the messiah, but a very naughty boy! Life of Brian is, by common affirmation, one of the finest movies ever made. And, of course, also one of the more controversial. It's one of those comedies that defined a generation and beyond and should be on any movie afficianados "Bucket list" to see before they die.
AUSTIN POWERS (1997)
![]()
I remember when the original Austin Powers was released - it came out of nowhere and blew apart the box office thanks to the sheer cheese of the script and a powerhouse performance from Mike Myers, who plays both the hero and the villain.
Austin Powers is the "Marmite" of comedy in that some find it spectacular, whilst to others Myers simply gets on your t*ts. Either way, you've got to appreciate the energy of the movie and the fact that the sequels didn't drop that much in terms of quality either.
Shout out to Seth Green; love him in these films. Plays the straight guy pointing out the lunacy of Dr. Evil perfectly.
BORAT: CULTURAL LEARNINGS OF AMERICA FOR MAKE BENEFIT GLORIOUS NATION OF KAZAKHSTAN (2006)

Sacha Baron Cohen is massively underrated by those who hate him for the Ali G portrayal and think of him as a one trick pony along the lines of the horrible Lee Nelson.
He's much better than he gets credit for, and he found justified praise when he released Borat, the shockingly brilliant comedic satire that poked fun at middle America.
His naked fight with his producer in the hotel is absolutely brilliant, as is his singing of the national anthem at the rodeo. Brilliant.
SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL (1989)
![]()
One of those films you've probably never seen, yet it features two of the greatest comedy actors of all time - Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor.
The concept of this movie is daft - Pryor is blind, Wilder is deaf, and they become unlikely friends to take down a posse of thieves.
It's great in parts but the pacing is a bit off at times, but the parts it gets right are very, very good. The highlight of this film is Pryor being shocked at finding out he's not white on the train - given this movie won't win anyway, here's a link so you can see it, funny stuff! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK1Pjgix79k
