The Goodison crowd.

And it's not like match going fans are somehow "better" than the ones who don't, but non-going match fans getting upitty over the match atmosphere really winds me up

Get a ticket and go yourself if you're that bothered

And maybe the team could try not being crap as well? I'm sure that would help the noise in the stadium!

You're talking extremes there, 5-0 at half time v Stoke we're in the pub, it's game over, there's no point trying to encourage them.
1-0 down though and the game is open, 0-0 at kick off for the first 20 minutes even I would like more vocal encouragement and singing.

Yeah but in those 20 minutes the team have got to make an effort to win the game. Under Martinez, even in his first season, we often just threw the first half of games away. Countless times we've gone in at 0-0 often without an attempt on target. You can't get behind that if they consistently give you nothing. Sometimes it looks as though the players aren't even thinking about how to score just purely about keeping the ball hoping something will happen. Fans cannot get behind that. I thought the Goodison crowd was tolerant last season given some of the dross that was served up. People go on about the booing at 3-0 up against QPR but if you were there you'll know that it was warranted, enough of a feeling had built up. The crowd is an organic thing, it's pointless trying to control it. Play the game properly and it will be with the team. Clown around playing what looks like a different game of football and it will make its voice heard. Always has been this way.

Let's just say Everton are playing crap and not putting the effort in. 20 mins in or so seems reasonable to give them a chance to see that they're going to be crap. After that I can understand it getting a bit subdued and the crowd getting frustrated, but it's quiet from the off before we've even seen if they're going to be bad.
Another reason why I said the 20 mins mark was that when we were poor before the reserved seating came in that was always roughly the natural time it would quieten off for the ordinary matches.

worst song for me is:

ITS A GRAND OLD TEAM TO PLAY FOR, ITS A GRAND OLD TEAM TO SUPPORT...
*starts to fade*

AND IF YOU KNOW YOUR HISTORY...*fades some more*.
ITS ENOUGH TO MAKE YOUR HEART GO WHOAAAAA
....*fading*
we don't care what the.. red sh1te say *fading*
....wtf do we care ...mubble mumble...
silence
.

cant even finish a song.

Why do the suppose singers always moan that others don't join in with them?

To me your more bothered about singing on your own an what others think about your actions than wanting to sing for Everton

There I said it

Exactly.. its a crap song anyway! And people keep starting it off a minute after its just failed to get going! Our fans are snide n thats that

I wonder if the old bloke behind me has renewed his season ticket. I don't think I've ever heard him encourage the team.

He swears copiously at the players on both sides, despite the families and young children who sit in front of him. His particular target at the moment is Lukaku who, in his distorted view, doesn't try hard enough.

So much for the beautiful game.
