Superb watch that - history and Everton.

Not that history and tradition matter to some blues on here

Semi detached houses and normal cars!!when football had its identity,my Mum always tells me of half the EFC team waiting for their kids at the infants school I went to in Maghull, happy days!!Whats our name?E-V-E-R-T-O-N!!!

I grew up in Dovecot, the number of us kids that knocked on Derek Temple's door looking for autographs was untrue, (he lived very close to the local primary school). He never got annoyed (or at least never let it show) and always signed our programmes, school books or whatever.

It really was a different world then, top class footballers were still very much a part of the community. Not like the big time Charlies of today.

Derek is best mates with my mate's arl fella. Got lots of great stories about his career. Great guy.

For example when he was about 18 they bunked off to the Isle of Man & whilst there secretly played in a youth tournament. There was a scout from Stoke City who saw the two lads - Derek was banging in the goals for fun. He approached them both after one particular match & said that he (Temple) would be a sure starter for the first team within 6 months (& his mate was in line for the reserves). Naturally Derek had been playing under another name & told him "ah no, I just got lucky!" & somehow managed to swerve him.
