The Final Season at Goodison

I'll be devastated when we finally leave. It's necessary and had to happen sooner or later but that won't make it less emotional. Some of my favourite memories are at that place and I feel closer to my Dad and Grandad at Goodison then anywhere else. They'd probably think me a right daft sod for thinking like that but it's true. That being said we have to move forward as a club and return to our frightful place competing for the league and that simply isn't possible while we remain at Goodison.

My dad has just stopped going part way through this season, but I always felt a sense of place when I was at Goodison with him. Generations of players have heard me shout "HOW SLOW ARE YOU?????" as they've failed to catch strikers lol

Seriously though, do you think we'll struggle like Arsenal did initially when they left Highbury?
I'm probably the last one to ask on that but...thats probably a distinct possibility.

Having said that, we've been immune to the "find a Billionaire, win the League" syndrome...sadly. So maybe expectations will be tempered somewhat?

I want to buy seat B103 in the lower Bullens when we go. That was my season ticket when we won the league twice.

Interesting you say that, I was thinking about this myelf. My seat now I have only had this season, since I have moved around alot I cant really say a certain seat is mine. What I would try and do is buy a seat I had for a iconic game, such as Bayern Munich I was also in the Lower Bullens, since Ive still got all my ticket stubs right back to day one I would just pick a old game and try and get that if it isnt taken by the modern owner.

Our last season at Goodison will be a tough gig for all blues.
The one thing I would like to see is the ground stripped back to its bare brick, tin sheet and wooden magnificence.
Temporary blue cladding and murals of legends are great, but lets remember the ground for what it is and what it means to all blues alike.
Its going to be emotional...!

Should this even be a thread yet? We first started talking about moving to a new stadium in about 1996 and although we are much closer to it today than we have been in a few years, the deal is not done until the stadium is complete. just look at not only all the false starts we have had, but look at other clubs too. Valencia in Spain springs to mind, they started building a stadium in 2007 and it still isn't complete

Most of the new grounds are soulless places full of people who are football tourists munchin Popcorn. I'll be devo'd if we become like them. Goodison isn't and hasn't been the problem with Everton the last 30 years although service for refreshments is poor , the queue's at half time are massive and the number of posts that obstruct views is a bit much, although I think I've only had about 2 obstructed view tickets in my life, so that's never bothered me and it's within walking distance from ours if I'm feeling energetic. The new ground when it arrives will have a lot to live upto.

Talking of Arsenal, should we go for a retro kit for the last season. Had we adopted blue and white by 1892? Or was it something else?

Need to take my daughter along to a game before we say goodbye to the old place.

It will be quite emotional really.

Everton are intrinsic in my life now, and in hers.

She's as old as my love of Everton - the two go hand in hand, but have never been in unison.

Will be emotional, I've got to say.
