Boss Lid

Player Valuation: £500k
Martinez, McCarthy, Stones, Coleman, Barkley. Just how long can we hold on to these names, unless we get mega investment along the lines of Man City/Chelsea ? We could build a fantastic team around these players along with the rest of the squad we`ve got, I just see the usual one big sale a year until they are all gone, sorry to be the doommonger at this time of potential optimism. I lived through Kendall and Lineker leaving, when we could of pushed on to a longer period of success, and the continual sales that undermined the Moyes era, but right now anything that undermines Martinez` chances of getting us back to the top table of European football and winning silverware would be unforgiveable.

Not sure about the players as after we lost bent the way we did, I'd never trust a player again, but I reckon you'll have the manager for a good few years if not longer.

The whole dynamic of the club has changed under Martinez, we are now slowly being seen as a confident, attractive top 4 chasing club rather than the dour "get to 40 points" that we were under moyes. Keeping Baines marked a new era at the club IMO and the TV reveue has meant we are in the black every year and dont need to sell to buy never mind to pay off any losses.

We keep Lukaku we have the potential for a future title winning team if we keep them together:

Lukaku: 20
Barkley: 20
Stones:19
McCarthy: 23
Coleman: 25
Oviedo:24

Don't forget we have good young players for the future that may be entering the first team picture soon like: Garbutt, Browning, Lundstram, Ledson, Green, Mcaleny, and Kennedy

I think it's all about getting Roberto signed up on a 5 soon as, if that happens end of season, no worries

My only worry is that this is being done with loans and Moyes players besides McCarthy. For his flaws, Moyes could clearly pick a player. Huge fan of Bobby's style and he's obviously a heck of a tactician. I just want to see how he manages the transfer market on an Everton budget this summer. So far his purchases have been McGeady, McCarthy (both look quality), Alcaraz, Kone, and Robles (Jury still out, but not overly impressive with what we've seen) If we get CL, he'll have a few more coins in the pot which should make it easier at least. Not doubting his ability to find talent, I just want to see it.

Any idea how these young lads are doin on loan? Hallam Hope has scored a couple for Bury but don't know about the rest

McCarthy is not going anywhere. Too unfashionable for the teams around us and clearly he isnt going to want to step down in competitivness if we are challenging up this end for a while.

Barkley being sold will already have been mooted. No idea to whom or when but you dont have a talent as good as him / rooney without knowing who you are selling him to and when. Ferguson more or less admitted that in his book that they were after him for 2-3 years before he eventually signed.

anyone else after that? I cant see us selling. Coleman is again unfashionable, baines is too old for a big transfer now, Stones is a long way away from being first choice so in nobodies minds. Lukaku and deufleu are not ours so no point in discussing them.

and as for martinez, he will only leave us when he has proven himself at ourselves. An F.A cup and a relegation is not really that great and as our former manager proved league position is worthless as an achievement. Will Arsenal/Barca come calling for him? Well i think for them to want him he will need to be competing with them in the first instance otherwise he will be another David Moyes.

But time will tell on that one.

Coleman and Baines are the best in the division in their positions, and thankfully both too older to jump ship unless it is this summer. Coleman is also loyal as hell, a la Baines. He'll stay with us forever.

Stones is the best young CB in the division and needs to be signed to a long term deal asap.

McCarthy has the potential to be an absolute monster, already performing to an exceptionally high standard. Hopefully he isn't fashionable enough for a 'bigger' team. A Chelsea or a Man City go for flashy foreigners, and Liverpool isn't an option.

Barkley might or might not leave, but he doesn't strike me as being somebody who would be desperate to leave us any time soon, so unless Kenwright sees him as the next few years' transfer budget he is staying. Plus he doesn't appear to have a corrupt agent like Rooney did.

Lukaku, well, he just needs to be signed. Best young striker in Europe.

To supplement that with quality players such as Howard, Barry, Gibson, McGeady, Mirallas, Jagielka... good signs.

It's only fair to add Lukaku, Barry, Deulofeu and Traoré to that list. He spotted them, regardless of whether or not we have the funds or means to keep them permanently.

So in the 'plus' column we have:
McCarthy, McGeady, Lukaku, Barry, Deulofeu

In the 'don't know' column we have:
Alcaraz, Kone, Robles, Traoré

In the 'negative' column we have:
No one.

You can also include Barkley and Stones as players he's helped bring through, too. Not to mention the Naismith renaissance.

I'd say that's a flipping brilliant record.
