Who is this legend?

Christopher Clive Froome, OBE (born 20 May 1985) is a British road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Team Ineos. He has won several stage races, including four editions of the Tour de France (in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017), the Giro d'Italia in 2018 and the Vuelta a España twice (2011 and 2017). Froome has also won two Olympic bronze medals in road time trials, in 2012and 2016, and also took bronze in the 2017 World Championships

RS in my office (Im in London) mentions this EVERY time I talk to him, he wanders over and asks how we are doing in the Everton Cup this year with a grin on his face. I get it is supposed to mean the best of the rest ie 7th place for the past couple of season and 5th going back to the Moyes era, but the way he keeps bringing it up makes it seem like a massive insult to us so I don't even want us to win it!

I'll bet he listens to the Guardian football podcast, they mention this almost every other week.

Spending 89m to buy an ordinary club in a poor league and he thinks that is better value... not too many would agree.

I would. He's bought a club with a big tradition but little modern success in an urban area of 1m+ with a modern 36k stadium. Aside from PSG the other traditional big French teams aren't looking amazing at the moment, runners up lost their best player and Monaco in all sorts of trouble, so if they make the right appointments there's 2 CL places to aim for and less well financed competition to go up against. Compare that with the 350m that Ashley allegedly wants for Newcastle?
