Listening to Ray Wilkins before prattling on about how the competition has been spoiled because more teams are involved. Personally I thought the qualifiers were much more interesting having more teams able to qualify and the fact the Dutch aren't involved shows it doesn't guarantee the top teams involvement. Plus the more games at the Euro's themselves the merrier. What says you?

If it was the old 16 team format I doubt whether England, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Wales would all have qualified.

I don't see no thrashings so far so all the qualified teams are competent enough to play at the Euros

Not often I agree with Butch but in this case I make him spot on.

Twenty four teams is way too many and the quality is diluted.

Plus the idea that it takes a fortnight and umpteen games to eliminate a mere eight also rans is just plain daft IMO.

This has also made the competition so unwieldy they are going to play the next one and presumably future Euros all over the continent.

Sod off Platini, you corrupt bell.

This is your legacy to European football.

Don't like the 24 team set-up. Doesn't eliminate enough teams at the group stage, win your first game and you've almost guaranteed qualification, plus its added an extra round in the knockout stage - was so much better when it was straight to the QFs.

At the moment I would cancel it. French having to deal with IS and that should not stop things, but at least England, Poland, France, Russian and NI supporters adding to the problems. Apparently Dutch on the way not even playing. It is not worth the trouble and trouble it is.

How many teams won by more than 1 goal ? Only one or two so far.

Maybe not on the paper but on the pitch all sides seem to be more or less on level - every team is capable of beating every team and that is good to watch. I wouldnt mind 32-team euros but then the qualifing round is pointless

Wot is this.

Lads, believe me, I can't think of anyone out here in France who's not loving the new format. Loads more matches to try and catch, and there's been 3 matches a day on telly which means if you'be still got loads to watch on bars, restaurants, parks (on screens etc) or fan zones (I tend to avoid them but loads go for it).

Ample opportunity to overdose on football and fit birds for nigh on a month. It's been boss out here, really boss. We started in Avignon then moved onto Toulouse and Bordeaux for games, then 2 nights in Cahrerloi for the Wales game on Lens. I caught the train down here to Paris early this morning and hav had a great day around Montparnasse, where I'm staying. Watched the Czech-Crostia game in the fan zone under the Eiffel Tower and now in a bar back in Montparnasse watch Spain-Turkey.

Rail strikes aside its been brilliant fun and the extra teams' fans have made it much bigger and multiplied the carnival atmoshoere.

Personally, I'd see the lower ranked nations slug out a pre-qualifyi g mini tournament and then have 32 teams at an even further expanded Euros. Overdose to the max.

It's crap.

Qualifying was crap because there was no jeopardy and laods of terrible teams have stumbled thrgough.

Plus you can get into the knock out stages without actually winning a game.3 out of 4 getting out of the group is insae. 24 is a terrible number for a tournament.

Euros used to be tense from beginning to end not just warm ups until three weeks into the tournament where we get the 16 nations we should have started with.

It doesn't help that this is the worst europe has ever been quality wise. So many godawful teams. Only Italy and Spain have looked up for it. With France, Germany and Croatia being generally good with some weaknesses and everyone else being mediocre at best.
