While I don't think we'll be flirting with relegation this season, I sadly don't think we'll have the firepower to get into the top 7.
I mean, the top five is locked out already in one order or another: City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, United.
I don't think United will fail this season given the rather decent set of strikers they've brought in. If they get a real goalkeeper in too they've got every chance of top four.
Newcastle are a few players away from challenging that group, and if Forest make the signings they're linked with they won't be too far away. Spurs will be very close as well.
Villa currently have a stronger all-round squad than us, too.
I put us currently on level with Brentford, Palace and Bournemouth—best of the rest if you will.
Our club's failure to properly address our obvious problem areas in time will be our downfall—unless of course they pull out at least two quality signings in the next 2 weeks, then no reason at all why we couldn't be at least up amongst Newcastle, Forest, Villa and Spurs.
Clearly they the authorities give certain clubs free reign to dip into an endless money pit it makes it all the more difficult for clubs like Everton that actually need to stick to the rules for fear of points deductions.
