Opening games today, been looking forward to seeing the next big talents in European football, but if this first game between Bulgaria and Iceland is anything to go by there won't be much on show! seriously first hour has been the most boring football match i've ever seen, I hope the Denmark v Switzerland game is much better and the Spain v England match should be a cracker.
For me the ones to watch in this tournament are:
Xhakiri(Swiss): excellent control of the ball, technique in delivery and pace, possibly the tournaments star.

Daniel Sturridge(England): big lad, fast, great technique and finishing, my bets are on him to become the tournaments top scorer

Bojan Krcic(Spain): tipped to be the next supertsar at Barca, has lightning pace, great skill on the ball and is an unerring finisher, probably will be competing with Sturridge for the golden boot.

.....don't forget about our Jack as well, really looking for him to make his mark on the tournament after a stop/start season for the blues, despite that he has great potential and is tipped to be given captaincy of the team for the tournament.

2-0 game over.

Vidarsson looks alright but its very hard to tell in these tournaments, just look at Ryan Babbel, he was the standout player of the last one.

yeah, funny enough i was gutted that Liverpool signed after his displays in the last tournament, but on the same coin Baines was catching my eye for the England U21s

Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martinez is as a good a central midfield pairing as I can imagine at this level. Be a good test for Rodwell to be up against them.

Alcantara is someone with A lot of ability, it's just a shame he's come through at Barca where he'll never get a game.

I think he'll eventually substitute Xavi. Unless the rumours are true (oxymoron) that he'll be used as a sweetner in a deal to get Cesc Fabregas to Barça

I think it's very possibly as that's the only way Barca will be able to bring Fabragas in and Arsenal will be able to get a replacement straight off the bat.

I really like what I've seen of the lad. Actually seems to combine the attributes of Xavi and Iniesta. Could be better than Fabregas*

*Awaits backlash

Do you trust potential over proven ability, though? There's no shortage of next big things who never made it as big as everyone thought they would.
Too true mate. Especially as I've probably put the kiss of death on the lad.

From an Arsenal perspective, a deal like this would seem to be a case of business as usual since the break up of the last great team. However, if Cesc is going to force a move, They could do a lot worse than this lad, plus cash to strengthen their defence with Gary Cahill or Christopher Samba for example.
