The Euro Palace Multi Problem

I’m hopeful that Palace are the Canary in the coal mine and there issue will ensure TFG protect Everton from this (albeit unlikely) scenario..

I do feel bad for Palace fans, they stuck with the team and they deserve the spoils of winning the cup..
Meh... not sure they turned up when we played them in the 3rd round the other year.

I feel bad for the club too. Textor should have taken care of this.
I read an article in the athletic today suggesting this was far from just a text or issue. By all accounts it was just rank bad management from palace as a club. That’s what I mean really, I can’t feel sorry for people who are complaining about being disadvantaged by something they were fully aware of and reminded of numerous times but just didn’t bother to address.it seems like they just sssuned they’d get away with it but when they didn’t have tried to play the victim.

Would love a link to that article

That’s the article. It appears palace just made really embarrassing admin errors that a Sunday league club would be ashamed of. They were reminded by both the FA and UEFA of what they needed to do but claim to have ‘missed’ the emails, seemingly because they had provided a generic email address probably manned by a minimum wage admin worker rather than an executive who should be handing that type of issue.

I feel for Palace fans but not the club, they knew full well what they were required to do if they wanted to play in Europe and made a conscious decision not to do it. They can't cry about it now. I say I feel for the fans, but to be fair I don't really see playing in the conference league as a massively worse thing, they might get further in it so it's not even that bad for them to be honest.

If they win it I think they qualify for the Europa League so it could be win, win.

Missed emails are a red herring. It’s not as if they didn’t know of the rules or potential conflict. I mean, most people on this board have at least a basic understanding to at least ask the question…

The club itself, and the majority of the shareholding, couldn’t have done anything. It was down to Textor to put his shares in a trust, it’s not as if the club could compel him to do so.

At any rate, while I’m a big believer in following the rules and that would have been the path of least resistance, I think they have a pretty strong case. I’m no lawyer, but he had an equal voting share with the other three despite owning more than them. He had no control over the operations of Palace.

I mean the point being made is fairly obviously that it’s not a case of everyone telling textor what he needed to but him ignoring them so what you’re saying is irrelevant. Parish is admitting that actually he and the club as a whole had not understood what they needed to, because they hadn’t read the emails which told them. I’m not sure why you want to ignore that to pretend you’re right but knock yourself out, it’s no big deal.

He did? Not sure about that.

“Notwithstanding the fact that even if I'd received it, what could I have done? I couldn't make somebody do it. They passed this rule so there was nothing we could do.”

“The FA Cup winners argued that Textor has no “direct influence” on the club’s operations but he did miss the March 1 blind trust deadline imposed by UEFA.”

But I seem to have struck a nerve with you so I’ll exit the conversation

But that isn’t backing up what you’re saying at all though? Even the tone of the article is clearly ‘we’re reporting what he said but it’s clearly a load of crap’. What he’s saying there is ‘I didn’t do what I was supposed to do but even if I had textor might not have actually acted on it’. That doesn’t make it purely textors fault, it’s just Parrish passing the blame on, there’s no evidence textor wouldn’t have done it it’s purely supposition on his part. You haven’t struck a nerve at all, like I said I couldn’t care less what competition palace are in, I’m just slightly fed up of people arguing a point, completely ignoring what’s said in response and then crying about it, but you do you.
