This story has always interested me and the BBC have just put up an excellent in depth article on it.

This video is a very good watch as well, with a plausible(ish) theory as to what may have gone down.

What an interesting read. I've never heard of that case before. It all sounds very weird and no investigation is ever going to find any conclusive answers.

What always amazes me when I read stories like that is why people live in such remote, cold places? I know they were born there and have always lived there but surely at some point one of them must think, fk this, lets all move a few hundred miles south and get a sun tan.

Having watched the video, I`d say that there are still many unanswered questions, like the lack of eyes and tongue on three members of the group being a big one- I don`t buy the explanation that it was caused by the snow. ( why not others ).

Very interesting stuff though.

There`s a horror film about it - the Devils Pass.

Unless you are a native, then most (2-4 generations ago) went there because of industrial reasons such as mining and supporting industries - there's a lot of ghost towns up there in the frozen north which are abandoned or on the way to becoming abandoned as people move south when those industries died out.

I guess it's harder if you come from the native people and want to maintain your traditional way of life, though I wouldn't blame them if they eventually left, but I believe that is happening and that it is a big cultural concern in Russia.

Read about this the other day. There’s another good one of a remote family of some specific Orthodox sect who lived in Siberia for years and one of them is still just about alive today

They all got high on magic mushies, had a massive fight in the tent, then ran off into the snow to play hide and seek but got lost and all froze to death as it was minus 20. Crows pecked out their eyes and a wandering marmot scoffed that girls tongue.

The end.
